The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is committed to the recruitment and retention of an outstanding, innovative, and diverse faculty and staff. Often, this means providing support and assistance for career opportunities for spouses and partners. We’re proud that the university has provided dual career assistance since 1992. While we cannot guarantee employment, we will assist as early in the recruitment process as possible to direct spouses and partners to appropriate job openings. We will also facilitate conversations and activate networks within the university and local community.

When looking for an academic position or nonacademic position, we encourage candidates to discuss available opportunities for spouses and partners with the hiring department chair and college dean early in the recruitment and relocation process. In most cases, the standard search process is required and candidates must meet stated requirements for expertise and qualifications. However, in some situations when a unique programmatic opportunity is recognized, a new position may be created.

University Human Resources and the community resource links provided offer additional support for information about nonacademic positions. Career Services can also provide help with resume review and interview preparation. Applicants may be given access to "Handshake," a leading career platform to search and apply for jobs with university industrial partners and other community employers.

For information about a confidential consultation, candidates can contact dualcareer@unl.edu.

Colleges and Departments should contact Faculty Affairs at facultyaffairs@unl.edu for more information about the process for requesting and securing approval for spousal and partner hires.
